Mekugi Pegs We just may well be the only source for these fine mekugi pegs which aren't even produced in bulk in Japan. These are traditionally made bamboo mekugi pegs. Proper fitting mekugi are critical to the function of a sword so we have made these mekugi to assist you in getting a good fit. All you have to do is take one and tap it into the hole until it is tight/secure. Then mark each end, for a cut, with a pen or pencil. Remove the peg and cut it at your marks for a perfect fit. You can never have too many of these! As with all of the mekugi some final fitting with a razor blade and sandpaper maybe required. Be aware that the Chinese Government is placing a stiff increase in the price of Bamboo and costs have risen and these are very labor intensive so we have had to adjust our pricing accordingly. To find out more about mekugi pegs and how they are made please click here "How Are Mekugi Pegs Made". These are not a "One size fits all" but will accommodate 99.9% of the katana out there both antique and new modern production.. NOTICE: On 3/10/08 we completed the production of the last 700 mekugi that we are going to make. Once these are sold they will no longer be produced and this listing will be deleted. Sorry for any inconvenience.
