KOSHIRAE (furniture) is the full set of mounting accoutrements used to "dress" a sword blade for wear or display. The Koshirea is comprised of the KODOGU or metal mountings, the tsuka and tsukamaki and the habaki. The MENUKI, FUCHI, and KASHIRA all though they serve some functional value are mostly the means to decorate and finish the Tsuka. They can be made from a wide variety of metals and even horn.
